I promised some of you that I would keep you poste I promised some of you that I would keep you posted on my lessons so here is one that was about foreshortening. Drawing things that appear close, like this guys hand, while other things are further back, like his head and upper torso, can play tricks on your eyes while trying to draw it, but to make it appear correctly it requires precise drawing and using a measurement stick helps. Also, avoiding drawing curved, rounded lines keeps it from looking cartoonish. Instead use lots of short straight lines and when done go back and work them (if that makes sense?) You also must hold the pencil loosely, back toward the top end. I enjoyed this lesson. It didn’t take long to do all 3. I do like the look of pencil and holding it loosely really makes nice marks!
